By the Unity Power Services team
For our team, safety is not a tagline. It is the daily standard that governs every project we touch. We document conditions before work starts, train weekly on live hazards, and push back on unsafe setups before any work begins. Our OSHA-certified, First-Aid-accredited crew brings a documented record of incident-free performance that protects your schedule and reduces your liability on every job.
How We Train
Every week, our crew takes part in a Toolbox Talk tied directly to the active work at hand and the current site and weather conditions. These sessions are not generic safety reviews. Each one focuses on a specific hazard, procedure, or certification point that is relevant to the work in front of us that week.
Once a month, the full team meets for in-house technical training on skills, PPE requirements, and best practices that are current and applicable. Once a quarter, we run hands-on training days to reinforce those lessons in a controlled setting. Our crew holds CPR and First Aid certification, along with specialized credentials in exothermic welding and lockout/tagout procedures. Lockout/tagout is the controlled process for isolating electrical energy before any work begins on a system that could harm someone if it were to activate unexpectedly.
Our crews are OSHA-certified and First-Aid accredited, and our qualifying projects are anchored by licensed Master Electricians (VA). Internally, we operate the AMPED program, which recognizes team members for performance against key indicators, including safety. It is how we keep the standard consistent even when no one outside the crew is watching.
What It Looks Like on Your Jobsite
Our safety process begins before we pick up a tool. When the crew arrives on a new site, we document existing conditions, creating a clear, dated record of what we found and how we proceeded from there. If a task would require working on energized equipment where lockout/tagout is a safer and feasible alternative, we raise the issue and address it before work continues. Unsafe energized work is not how we operate.
The same standard applies to temporary power. If a setup creates unnecessary risk for our crew or for another trade working nearby, we identify it and correct it before the crew proceeds. On multi-trade job sites, we coordinate with adjacent contractors on any step that creates an electrical exposure for people other than our crew.
For developers, general contractors, and facility teams, this discipline has a direct effect on the project schedule. An incident, a failed inspection, or an unsafe-practice citation can stop a commercial job cold, and stopping costs time and money that nobody budgeted. The practical result of our safety program is fewer interruptions, cleaner inspections, and a crew that keeps the project moving.
